The Joy of Prayer

“Did you pray today mommy?” is a question my daughter often asks. It reinforces my belief that I am doing the right thing by bringing my child to Church.  The bible teaches us in Proverbs 22:6, “Teach your children to choose the right path, and when they are older they will remain on it.”

My daughter will someday realize the power and comfort of prayer.  She will know Jesus will be there with her.  I will tell her how HE is with me. HE was with both of us when we had to move in with my parents.  He was with me, really both of us, when I heard her heartbeat for the first time when I was pregnant.  He was with her when she prayed for her little scratch to go away. “It worked!  My boo-boo is gone!”  I love how she insists on saying the prayer I have hung on her wall every night.  Through prayer she is learning what we as adults know.  As people come in and out of her life, Jesus will remain with her always.

And yes, little miss B.  I did pray today!
Heavenly Father, Teach us to come to you in prayer with faith like a child.  Amen.
