MATTHEW 6:34 “…DO NOT WORRY ABOUT TOMORROW, FOR TOMORROW WILL WORRY ABOUT ITSELF. EACH DAY HAS ENOUGH TROUBLE OF ITS OWN.”
When I reached the age of 46, I was fortunate to learn that I had a problem that had stunted my emotional growth and had done great damage to my life and the lives of my family. I learned that alcohol was not a friend of mine and in fact had caused much of the chaos that had been my life. I realized that I needed to do something about this problem and made a commitment to stop drinking with the help of Alcoholics Anonymous.
I realized that I needed more help then a few hours a day of AA could provide, and turned to the GOD I thought I knew for help. I made a commitment to read and study God’s Word, the Bible, each and every day, go to meetings, work the 12 Steps of AA and follow suggestions from those who had gone before me.
One suggestion I incorporated into my life was to live my life ONE DAY AT A TIME, go to MEETINGS every day and ask GOD for help to stay CLEAN & SOBER each day. I was really surprised how my life became simpler and how the days turned into weeks, months and years. My greatest surprise, however, was that I came to know this One called Jesus the Christ in a new and fresh way.
The Bible teaches us how to live a clean and sober life in a world that has seemed to have gone completely crazy. We do not have to turn to such things as alcohol and other drugs to make us feel better. All we must do is to “TRUST in the LORD with all (our) understanding, and lean not on (our) own understanding; in all (our) ways acknowledge Him, and He will make (our) paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6.
Our GOD has not created us to withstand more then what one 24 hour period will bring. In some cases we will be able only to get through the next five minutes or so with the help of our great GOD. We should never, however, try to get through more then what the hours in one day will bring and always remember to stay close to the One who created us, GOD Almighty. With Him there is nothing that we will not be able to overcome. Amen & AMEN!
Dear Lord, We thank you for being with us each day. Help us to trust in You and lean on You as we go through each day. Amen.
